About One Stop AMI

One Stop AMI is written by Marika and her family. We live in the UK and have been visiting Anna Maria Island for more than 15 years, usually two or three times a year.

We fell in love with the island's beaches, wildlife and old-Florida pace. Over the years we have also watched it change, and we wanted to do something useful: help visitors enjoy the island and look after it at the same time.

That is why this guide mixes practical planning — parking, beaches, events and getting around — with simple advice on protecting the island. We check practical details against official and local sources, and where details change often we show when we last checked them.

Coloring books for Turtle Watch

Our four children are always drawing, so we turned that into around 40 educational coloring books about the island's wildlife. All profit from the books — what is left after taxes and the costs of running this website — goes to Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and Shorebird Monitoring.

On one visit, a Turtle Watch volunteer kindly let our family join some nest excavations. It stayed with all of us, and it is a big part of why these books exist.
